Night Watch director Timur Bekmambetov helms his first English-language feature film with this big-screen adaptation of Mark Millar's action-packed graphic novel. Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) is a cube-dwelling hypochondriac whose uneventful life has become a mundane blur of terminal boredom. ...more

“I don’t know who I am!” wails a banged up and bloody James McAvoy somewhere in the first third of the new super-slick action flick Wanted. And while that existential admission—identity, the quest for self—may be the heart of this futuristic assassin tale, it’s certainly not the film’s soul. That, as it turns out, belongs entirely to flashy special effects and crunchy sequences of violence. Did somebody order another comic book movie? We can’t tell whether Wanted wants to have a message, a ...more

      Non-stop action

Wanted, which is from the Russian director who made the excellent modern vampire movies Night Watch and Day Watch, features non-stop action. No one in the theatre fidgeted once as the pace of the movie kept all eyes locked on the screen.

James McAvoy's character starts off as a sad-sack cubicle worker until he is awakened to the powers he possesses. Over the course of the movie, his stamina and knowledge increases to where he is a force to be reckoned with.

While there might be a few hitches in the storyline, don't worry about them. Instead, enjoy the filmmaking, which at times moves faster than life itself. People applauded at the end of the movie, they liked it that much.
