A self-described "three-tusked mastodon," We Are Scientists may be the only band that ever left Los Angeles to make it big in the music world. Instead, they moved to New York, where they found a home in that city's so-called "art rock" scene. You'll hear traces of fellow New York rockers like The Rapture and The Bravery in their damaged art-punk sound, but WAS, as the trio is known to its fans, fuses together elements of punk, emo and classic new wave rock in ways that only a Scientist could conceive of.
